My first visit to Home Bru was meant to be a quick stop — just a coffee and back to my day – but from the moment I stepped inside, I knew I was staying longer than planned. The ambiance, the energy, and the warmth of the space completely drew me in. There’s something incredibly welcoming about this spot.

The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and attended to me immediately, which set the tone for the rest of my visit. The menu is short, simple, and fuss-free — exactly how I like it — and everything looked tempting.

I started off with an espresso that arrived swiftly, accompanied by a crunchy treat on the side. The honey-brown crema on the espresso was thick and rich — a beautiful sight, and even better to taste. It paired perfectly with the crunchy and instantly lifted my mood.

I followed that with their “Brekki Zarm” — a mouthwatering combo of bacon, boiled eggs, mozzarella, and sriracha in a soft bun. Comfort food done right.

But the real showstopper? The cappuccino. I saved it for last, and I’m so glad I did. The barista presented it with stunning latte art — an elephant, of all things — and it truly took my breath away. The foam held strong till the last sip, and the balance of flavour was just spot on.

Home Bru is more than just a coffee shop — it’s an experience. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Umhlanga who appreciates great coffee, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere that feels like your comfort zone.
