Camp Orchards encompasses not just The Harvest Table, a cafe, but is also a wedding venue, a conference centre, a sustainable farm, office space to rent and accommodation. There’s also a walking trail.
All of this is set in beautiful grounds, exuding peace and tranquillity.
The Harvest Table is all about self-service. You select what you’d like to eat from a central table (all containers are disposable cardboard).
You queue to pay for your food and coffee. Coffee is served in disposable cups, too. When you are done, you clear up after yourself and dispose of everything, leaving your table clean and ready for the next customers.
The lunch menu is written on a blackboard and changes weekly. On offer when I was there were chicken strips, chips, croissants, focaccia, sourdough bread, fishcakes, stuffed mushrooms and salads. On the sweet side, there are the likes of cheesecake, cupcakes, chocolate brownies and waffles. Some gluten free options are available.
Seating is mostly outdoors and on the covered patio. The weather was beautiful when we were there, but this could be a problem on a rainy cold day.
As I’ve said, my coffees were served in paper cups, which was not conducive (for me) to enjoying a good cup of coffee. The single cappuccino was served in the smaller paper cup (250ml) and was too milky and weak – but the milk was well stretched.
It seemed that many people were enjoying their coffee, however.
The espresso was served in an espresso paper cup and was quite flavourful with good crema. They use imported Italian beans, Café Mauro.
This is a unique place with emphasis on sustainability complete with recycling bins for waste.
There are also the most wonderful swings of all shapes and sizes which are suitable for babies right up to adults. Such fun! There is hopscotch too!
This is a great place to go with your family for a very special experience.
Regrettably, no dogs are allowed. Wi-Fi is available.
