I arrived to find chatty Sunday breakfasters busily tucking into generous portions. If the filling omelettes were anything to go by, their abundant menu items were tasty too. It was family time, with mothers tending their toddlers, and making best use of the adjoining toddler space and nearby play area.
The espresso was superb, ticking the boxes with a flourish on the requirements of sweet, bitter and acidic. It was full bodied and packed the necessary punch. Full marks also for the crema, those desired tiger stripes of caramel and dark in evidence.
The demitasse it came in was perfect, purpose-made by Douwe Egberts. The cappuccino also bore the DE insignia, though the espresso outshone its milky relative.
The venue is across the M4 from the landmark Sibaya hotel and casino. It is airy, modern and spacious, on a relatively new estate of apartments and stand-alone homes and boasts a restful vista of natural vegetation blended with exotic, and abundant birdlife also taking breakfast at the body of water in the ravine below. Wifi available.
