I think farm stall, restaurant and pub says it all, although I would add coffee shop, after enjoying a surprisingly good cappuccino there on a recent Monday afternoon.

This is a tiny piece of paradise overlooking a small pond and the proverbial rolling hills of KZN’s Midlands where everything is lush and green. The foliage that is.

A family-run venue, it offers breakfast and lunch menus, a full range of locally made deli items along with premade foods to take away and an amazing selection of cakes and other baked goods. There’s also a clothing store, a separate pub and even a swimming pool. This is pretty much one-stop eating, shopping and playing.

The place was packed with guests mostly enjoying lunch chosen from a specials menu written on boards. But we were there for coffee and cake – and what a win that was.

We ordered cappuccinos, carrot cake, creme brulee (from the lunch menu) and a chocolate brownie. The sweet treats were excellent as were our cappuccinos, which were served in the right sized cups, and at the perfect temperature. While the foam could have been slightly better textured, the flavours were spot on intense with no bitterness whatsoever. We will return.

This is a nice place for kids to roam free but make sure they avoid the two black swans in residence. They were a little bad tempered.

Wi-Fi is on hand.
