The whole Point precinct has undergone a face-lift and parts of it are quite stunning.
It’s refreshing to find a cafe on that part of the Point that has beautiful views. One can be close to uShaka Marine, but not be among the delightedly screaming kids that visit this popular theme park. Dockside is the perfect refuge for parents of kids visiting uShaka.
The cafe is a beautiful cozy venue with lots of variety in their food offerings, from breakfasts to lunch to desserts. Dockside has everything you need for a great outing.
Generally speaking, serving coffee was clearly not their first priority, although what was served to us was palatable enough, well-presented and served in the right size cups – if a little too hot. Still, you can drink it and linger.
In retrospect, I felt the staff needed more training in terms of understanding their customer flow and use of their coffee bar area. It was not optimally used. With a little more training I think they will get it right. Their enthusiasm was obvious.
I ordered a chocolate brownie with fresh cream from their dessert menu and it was very yummy. Of all the places I judged for the Battle of the Beans competition, this was one of the nicest places in which to chill. Wi-Fi available.
