If you’re searching for an incredible local coffee experience, look no further than Crane Flower Coffee. This hidden gem is a community hub where you’ll find runners fuelling up before hitting the road, friends meeting for a chat and people quietly working. It even offers space for small private events.
It started out in an old garage, which was renovated during lockdown. Crane Flower is the brainchild of Dale Sandy and his dad, who recycled and upcycled various items to create this quaint New York-style coffee shop, which was inspired by his time in New York as a student.
Dale offers excellent coffee. The beans are carefully sourced and roasted in his own roastery. The barista, Keegan Chavoos, was named KZN’s top barista in the 2024 Battle of the Beans coffee competition. He has great skills and consistently serves up a variety of excellent coffees…including a lavender and rose water infused cappuccino.
My espresso was well extracted, tasted delicious and boasted a good crema. It was served, of course, in the correct size cup.
My cappuccino was excellent, with good body and flavour and served at the correct temperature. Well stretched milk with beautiful latte art completed the experience.
Light meals on offer and include open sandwiches and toasted sandwiches with local artisanal breads as an option. Also filled bagels and sweet treats. There is inside and outside seating – and a big plus is the safe parking in the centre. Wifi available
