Bluebird is a specialty coffee roastery, cafe and webstore in Howick that is probably one of the coolest coffee venues around. A two-storey building with naked face brick, high arched windows, parquet flooring make this the real deal in coolness. Plus it has a welcoming vibe.

The barista was nice and friendly, a kinda chilled guy.  Wi-Fi available and at a decent speed. Parking is available but could be a problem during busy times.

Food includes a range of toasted sandwiches, three different smoothies and warm oats.

Bluebird is known for its exceptional coffee which is more on the fruity/acidic side of the coffee spectrum. This was definitely the case when it came to the espresso I had, which was a little too acidic and not as balanced as I would have hoped. The cappuccino, on the other hand, was very good. When it came to flavour to texture and temperature, they scored very highly. The balance that the milk provides to the lighter and more fruity coffee in which Bluebird excels really hit home and every sip was a delight!
