This is one of Durban’s coffee stalwarts and it comes complete with a quirky and traditional vibe and a following of loyal locals. The order of the day is light meals and good coffee – with the friendly staff a great add on. I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the art, not to mention their attention to detail, which is very eco conscious. All their packaging reflects this.
Although their cappuccino didn’t raise my eyebrows, their espresso was, in my opinion, close to perfect – lovely when it came to both taste and the crema. They roast their own beans and the staff are really passionate about the venue. Sadly, the neighbourhood doesn’t do them any favours and parking can be challenging.
My only recommendation on behalf of those who, like me, often come to enjoy the coffee rather than a whole meal, is that they have a larger selection of pastries to complement their good coffee and do justice to their eco-friendly take-away packaging.
